Why You Should Definitely go to The Amalfi Coast

February 16, 2016

Beautiful Beaches, Cliffs, Amazing Views, Fresh Fish, and Limoncello!

The Amalfi Coast is both the perfect place for a dream vacation and spectacular home destination. Costiera Amalfitana, or the Italian translation of the Amalfi Coast, sits along the incredible southern coastline of the Sorrentino Peninsula of Italy. The steep roads and colorful buildings come to meet the edge of the cliffs with the most beautiful and serene blue waters that provide only a sublime view to its locals and visitors.

The coastline stretches 50 kilometers of rocky shores, colorful homes and buildings, narrow alley ways, and ancient steps climbing up and around the cliff villages. The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful world that connects the serenity of the mountain with the glistening sea.

The cuisine along the Amalfi Coast is seafood based with amazing fishing villages bringing in unbelievable fresh fish to local restaurant tables. Chefs create spectacular dishes with the fresh seafood caught each day, creating incredible flavors that aren’t easy to find on other shores of Italy.

The Amalfi coast has a warm Mediterranean climate. The best time to visit the Amalfi Coast is when the weather starts to warm up, just before it gets too hot, during the month of May. If you prefer to visit when the weather is on the warmer side, a visit in July would be hot and just as enjoyable, especially for a swim in the Mediterranean. But when climbing the steep cliffs and steps along the welcoming roads of the coast in the sun and especially the heat, be sure to stay hydrated constantly!

The Amalfi Coast is divided into thirteen municipalities with some of the most famous attractions of Italy. A few of the most recommended towns to go thru including the charming and beautiful town of Amalfi that sits at the bottom of the cliffs on the lower level centered around the stunning Amalfi Cathedral. Above the Amalfi Coast sits the popular tourist town of Ravello overlooking the coast from the gorgeous, higher terrain. The first town of the Amalfi is Vietri sul Mare, or “Vietri on the Sea.” This beautiful town is the beginning of the coastal trip or last of the Amalfi Coastline and is also called “The First Pearl of the Amalfi.” All of these popular destinations make the perfect trip to the Amalfi Coast complete!

But of course, we can’t forget about one of our top destinations to visit in 2016 the beautiful and romantic Positano. Positano rests at the end of the other side of the Amalfi Coast with a dream-like feel to it’s views and gorgeous beaches. Positano is a very famous honeymoon spot and tourist vacation attraction where the local inhabitants welcome all guests and visitors with the best dining advice, shopping selections, and boat excursions.

The Amalfi Coast is best known for their lemon growing and production of Limoncello. Along the coast are lemon trees growing around the coastline and throughout the municipalities. Positano is most famously known for the use of the lemons to make the famous Italian liquor beverage called Limoncello, the second most popular liqueur in Italy!

Limoncello is a famous Italian lemon liqueur produced and made from the lemon zest of the Amalfi Coast lemons, mixed with a spirit and simple syrup (liquid sugar) that combine to make the most refreshing and zesty-tasting alcoholic beverage. Along the Amalfi Coast, visitors and locals get to enjoy this freshly made Limoncello that is served chilled after dinner!
