It’s nearly impossible to go wrong when planning your travel itinerary for an Italian vacation. One way or another, you will see the sights and experience the fabulous food. If you’re visiting for the second or third time, though, you may be interested in activities that are a little more off of the beaten path. Take a look at these suggestions of hidden spots in Italy that you may not have considered visiting before. If you happen to visit, let us know what you think!
When it comes to Italian islands, this one simply can’t be beat. It features petite, candy-colored houses on a picturesque coastline just a short boat ride away from Naples. It flies under the radar of its well-known neighbor, Capri and is the smallest of the Flegrean Islands. Well worth a visit if you’re near the area.
Located in the Calabria area of Italy, the “Coast of the Gods” is just as breathtaking as you’ve been told. The area features spectacular beaches, coves, and quaint towns. Tropea is undoubtedly the jewel of the coastline, however there are various surrounding towns that are just as charming. You may even run into a secret bay if you put your mind to it.
The rolling hills of Umbria are a sight to see in and of themselves. But, when paired with a full-bodied red wine, they are just that much better. Various wineries can be found along the trail offering visitors the option to taste some delicious wine and food while taking in the views. Known as the “green heart of Italy” the Umbrian countryside offers fantastic views and relaxing drives.
