1. Arenal Volcano

A stunning site for thrill seekers and nature lovers alike, this active volcano has been “resting” since 2010, but is still a must see. Plenty to do while visiting including hiking and horseback riding.

2. National Theatre

The ornate Neo-Classical theatre is considered thefinest historic building in San Jose, and is known for its exquisite interior decorated with lavish furnishings and beautiful murals. One of the theatre’s main ceiling murals, in fact, was just named one of “10 great ceilings around the world,” according to an article in USA Today.

Exactly what you think it’d be- a museum covered head to toe in gold. If you want to take the museum route, this is the most lavish place to go, with hundreds of artifacts, dating back to the 1500’s.

Jade was absolutely vital in Mesoamerica. The Jade Museum in Costa Rica is dedicated to preserving the archaeological heritage of the region, and it features the largest collection of pre-Columbian jade artifacts in the world.
