Paris-Plages

Every summer Parisiennes escape to the coast to avoid the hot and humid weather of the city. Paris-Plages was created to provide relief for those having to remain in town. Every July and August, the banks of the Seine are transformed into a summer scene right out of Palm Beach. The river embankment takes on a beach theme complete with sand, palm trees and parasols. A number of attractions can be found along the river including free concerts, splash pools, boardwalk style cafes. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen!

Free Fashion Shows at Galeries Lafayette

Have you always wanted to attend Fashion Week in Paris? Well this is the next best thing. The Galeries Lafayette unveils the latest fashion trends of the season with two free fashion shows every week. La Fête de la Musique (World Music Day)

La Fête de la Musique is a music festival of epic proportions. Held on the first day of summer in over 460 cities in 110 countries all over the world, the festival’s aim is to promote music on a global scale. While each city celebrates in its own way, visitors can always expect an array of free concerts as well as live performances by street musicians.

Nuit Blanche (White Night)

La Nuit Blanche is an all-nighter festival of arts held every first Saturday in October from 7:00pm to 7:00am. On this day, the city transforms into a celebration of all things art and culture. Museums and galleries offer free admission, and art installations, concerts, and events are scattered throughout Paris. Bars and restaurants also stay open late for the festivities. Every year, this free carnival of artistic expression is relocated to a new part of Paris. Nuit Blanche attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, and is one of the city’s most anticipated annual events.
