Summer Events in Paris: 5 Things You Can’t Miss!

Paris in the summertime is interesting- with locals gone more frequently on paid vacation, the pace is slower, the temperatures rise, and the summer events pop up to entertain the masses in the warm summer air. The famed French city always has something to offer everyone who visits. Whether you are searching for entertainment, culture, art, or music, Paris offers something unique for you. With plenty events coming up for the rest of the summer season, make sure to check these out if you have a chance!

1. Bastille Day Festivities

Bastille Day is celebrated on July 14th, the annaversiery of the 1789 storming of the Bastille prison, which sparked the Frech Revelution and began the people’s war for freedom. Essentially their version of 4th of July, no expense is spared. With parades by the military down the Champs-Élysées followed by fireworks by the Eiffel Tower, the day is perfect for all ages.

2. Tour De France

After biking for over 2,000 miles, watch the cyclists cross the finish line at the Champs- Élysées. Watch the grand finale on July 23rd.

3. Paris Summer Arts Festival

With 15 shows and over 100 performances, Paris continues its 26-year tradition of hosting the Quartier d’Été Festival. Events include artistic showcases, dance ensembles, theatrical acts, and circus performances. Dates are to be announced, but expect the festival to come up in July and August!

4. Open Air Cinema

One of the newer and trendier events, people from all around flock to Northern Paris to enjoy watching selected cinema, from recent hits to black and white classics. Many of the movies are featured in English or English subtitles. Enjoy this while it last from July 13th to August 21st.

5. Picasso Exhibits

Until August 28th, enjoy this exclusive look at the famed Spanish painter’s 200+ works at Musee National Picasso. The recently renovated museum will highlight all his work, but will focus on his sculptures, featured alongside paintings and sketches.
