24 Hours in Milan, Italy

March 12, 2017

With amazing cities like Florence, Rome, and Venice, Milan is sometimes overlooked when planning a trip to Italy but the fashion mecca is definitely worth a visit. Milan offers fabulous shopping, impressive Neo-Gothic architecture and of course–pasta!

Best time to go: May and June when the weather is starting to warm up and prime tourist season hasn’t started yet.

Where to stay: Chic 2 bedroom apartment right in the heart of the shopping district and across the street from the Armani hotel!

What to see: below is a 24 hour itinerary of all the top places not to miss!

  1. A Double Decker Bus Tour is the perfect way to see a city like Milan! This is a great way to kick off a trip since this allows you to see everything in a short period of time.
  2. Shopping on Via Montenapoleone– Part of the Quadrilateral d’Oro – Milan’s Golden Quadrilateral – is the destination for luxury shopping. Spend an hour (or five) browsing the luxurious selections and enjoy the ambiance of the area.
  3. Duomo Cathedral – the Cathedral of Milan – is the largest Cathedral in Italy (Aside from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome) and the third largest in the world. It took nearly six centuries to build and complete.
  4. Spend Some Time With da Vinci’s Last Supper: A favorite among many visitors, a trip to the Santa Maria delle Grazie Church to view da Vinci’s famous painting, “Last Supper,” is strongly encouraged by many who visit Milan. What can be problematic (especially during peak season) is finding tickets. Fortunately, if planning far enough in advance, tickets can be purchased online here. You can also find walking tours that include this church as a stop, if guided tours are something that interest you.
  5. Dinner at The Armani Hotel: This contemporary restaurant and bar nicely blends the traditions of Italian food with an international flare. Characterized by fresh produce and quality ingredients, it’s hard to go wrong when dining at this fine establishment. Read more about the menu and ambiance here.

We’ve only really scratched the surface of the possibilities that await travelers to Milan. If travel accommodations are needed, please feel free to click here to view available rentals.
