7th Arrondissement in Paris

October 5, 2015

Any first (or second . . . or tenth) time visitor of Paris will always remember the sight of the Eiffel Tour rising above all other Parisienne infrastructure. Laying your eyes upon the famous monument will stir you and undoubtedly leave you longing for more Paris. While the Eiffel Tour is, of course, the most notable sight in the 7^th arrondissement, there are more lovely places you have to see before you depart!

Known as Paris’ oldest department store, you definitely won’t want to miss Le Bon Marché (translated to “the good deal”) on Rue de Sèvres. Le Bon Marché sells some of France’s favorite clothing brands, and has a delicious in-store café, Le Grand Épicerie de Paris. Even if you’re not in the market for high-end clothing, the building and beautiful décor is worth the visit!

Of course any true Parisienne Arrondissement has to have plein air markets! Rue Cler is wonderful whether you are looking for produce, fresh flowers, or great photographic material. You could even pick up some fresh baguette and vino and set off to picnic under the Eiffel Tour!

While you’re in the 7^th arrondissement, be sure to spend the afternoon at Musée D’Orsay, the world’s most famous train station turned museum. The masterpieces you gaze upon will leave you in awe, and the building itself is equally as magnificent. If you happen to be there on the first Friday of the month, admission is free!

Just a few blocks away from the Musée D’Orsay is also Musée Rodin, where you can be pensive alongside Rodin’s famous enormous sculpture, The Thinker.

Finally, if you’re just looking for a nice place to walk and relax after a full day, stroll through Les Berges, a new park along the Seine with lots of space and greenhouses!
