A Trip to the French Riviera: Cannes, Mougins & La Napoule

Nothing says summer like lounging beachside with an umbrella overhead and the sand beneath your feet. The French Riviera (also known as Provence) is known for its endless summer glamor and effortless beach-chic style. Handsome Properties International set out to discover the cities of La Napoule, Mougins and Cannes in hopes to observe the Cote d’Azur first hand.

The Beach City of La Napoule

La Napoule is a small town located along the French Riviera, southwest of Cannes. The charming beach city is famous for a 14^th century restored chateau called Château de la Napoule. The Chateau was purchased by an American banker named Henry Clews Jr and restored to a private residence where he and his family lived. Mr. Clews was an artist and decorated the chateau with his paintings and sculptures and the chateau today is used for a non-profit arts foundation.

Charming Mougins

The next stop on the agenda was the charming town of Mougins located in the district of Grasse. Mougins is about a twenty-minute drive from Cannes and has been the home of celebrities looking to escape the limelight for the past century. Famous figures such as Picasso, Elizabeth Taylor, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Winston Churchill have all enjoyed the privacy of this charming town. While in Mougins, Handsome Properties International visited with some of our partners in the South of France and enjoyed touring the city with them. Since Mougins is located so close to Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, Handsome Properties International stumbled upon a charming perfumery called Cottage de la Sociere. The shop owner makes all of her own perfumes and each perfume can be used for a different occasion. For example, certain fragrances bring good luck when worn while other scents are used for inviting love or good health.

Extravagant Cannes

The last stop for Handsome Properties International was the infamous city of Cannes where the film festival, Festival de Cannes, has been held every year for the past 67 years. The city of Cannes is where true luxury collides with fashion and opulence in every form. The harbors are filled with yachts, the streets are lined with designer boutiques and the restaurants are serving the finest of caviar. Cannes is a place where no expense is spared and it is a must see when traveling throughout the South of France. While there, Handsome Properties International dined at the famous Le Maschou Restaurant where they enjoyed delicious lamb chops, fromage and bien sur, du vin rouge.
